Hybrid material handler expands the machinery fleet in the port
Société Gras, based in northern France, handles around one million tons of goods annually – the majority of which is transported as bulk cargo via waterways. To reliably meet the increasing demands of port operations, the fleet of machinery was specifically expanded: a SENNEBOGEN 850 G Hybrid has been in operation since 2025.
Logistics with a focus on waterways
The company, based in Beugny (Pas-de-Calais), was founded around 20 years ago by Maximilien Gras and currently employs approximately 20 people. Its focus is on organizing complex logistics flows – particularly those involving road and water transport. This includes not only the handling of bulk goods, but also palletized goods and industrial products. Consequently, the demands placed on the technology used are very high.
Performance and efficiency in harmony…
“The excavator perfectly matches our requirements for working efficiently and economically. It allows us to offer our customers reliable service and provide our operators with a well-designed piece of equipment.”

High-performance fleet for daily handling
For years, Société Gras has relied primarily on SENNEBOGEN machinery for its operations. A total of approximately 15 material handlers in the 50 to 70 ton weight class are in use.
The decisive factors for this decision are primarily the stable construction, high load-bearing capacity and the efficiency of the Green Hybrid technology.
The equipment also plays an important role in daily use:

The 850 G Hybrid expands the machinery fleet
The SENNEBOGEN 850 G Hybrid was a targeted addition to the fleet, providing a high-performance handling solution for demanding applications. The excavator achieves a reach of up to 21 meters , making it particularly suitable for loading and unloading processes in the port .
Thanks to the integrated Green Hybrid technology, some of the energy generated during lowering can be recovered and reused. This has a positive effect on fuel consumption , which is reduced by approximately 30% .
Long-term support from the sales partner is extremely important
Société Gras is supported by Sygmat , the French SENNEBOGEN sales partner . In addition to the delivery of the machines, long-term support plays a key role – from commissioning to maintenance during operation .
“We share a common understanding of efficient and sustainable handling technology. The close cooperation pays off in daily operations ,” says Jérémy Sobczak, Sales Manager at Sygmat.
