Dutch Offshore carries out projects on international construction sites – wherever water plays a role, as the company itself describes it. Its range of services extends from offshore lifting operations and dredging applications to heavy transport, port logistics, and complex maritime infrastructure projects.

To meet these diverse requirements, Dutch Offshore relies on a versatile and configurable crawler crane . The new SENNEBOGEN 6220 HD will be used primarily in offshore heavy lifting projects and demanding heavy-duty operations. Thanks to its robust construction, a lifting capacity of up to 220 tons , and flexible equipment options, the machine is suitable for a wide range of applications – from classic lifting operations and dredging to complex tasks on floating structures.

This versatility was a key investment criterion for Dutch Offshore. Internally, the company describes the rope excavator as the “Swiss Army knife” of its offshore fleet – a machine capable of handling a wide variety of tasks with just one platform.

Besides technical performance, reliability, service and a cooperative partnership were the main focus for Dutch Offshore in their investment decision.

“In our 24/7 offshore industry, unplanned surprises are the biggest risk factor. This is precisely where the reliability of the machines and the way challenges are solved together make the difference,” says Michiel Zwagerman, describing the collaboration with SENNEBOGEN.

From Dutch Offshore’s point of view, robust machine concepts, service-friendly designs and reliable components that remain permanently ready for use even under demanding offshore conditions are particularly convincing.

Equally important is collaboration throughout the entire lifecycle of the machines . Technical challenges cannot be completely avoided in complex offshore projects. What is crucial, however, is how quickly and effectively manufacturers, dealers, and operators react together. This collaborative approach has characterized our partnership with SENNEBOGEN for many years.

With its latest investment, Dutch Offshore is consistently expanding its existing SENNEBOGEN fleet. Today, its fleet includes models such as the 7700 , 6300 HD , 6113 R , 6220 HD, 6180 and 5500 .

“And we will continue to invest in SENNEBOGEN machines in the future,” said Michiel Zwagerman.

This renewed investment underscores the long-term partnership between Dutch Offshore, SENNEBOGEN, and Van den Heuvel. Together, the companies pursue the goal of providing high-performance solutions for offshore heavy lifting, dredging, and specialized maritime applications.

With the second SENNEBOGEN 6220 HD, Dutch Offshore strengthens its international fleet for demanding offshore operations and creates additional capacity for future projects worldwide.

On January 28, 2025, the new SENNEBOGEN 855 E Hybrid was officially commissioned at the Vienenburg gravel plant. Since then, the material handler has been responsible for the central gravel extraction at the site.

The machine is equipped for demanding use in the gravel pit with:

• 237 kW diesel engine
• 21 m equipment length
• 2.45 m³ spoon
• Crawler undercarriage for secure footing and mobility
• Working depth of up to 12 m
• Maxcab driver’s cab, hydraulically height-adjustable up to 3 m
• Tempered glass, air conditioning, sun blinds, Bluetooth and DAB radio

This allows the SENNEBOGEN 855 E Hybrid to achieve a throughput of up to 200 tons of gravel per hour and up to 1,500 tons per day in single-shift operation. According to field data, this surpasses the performance of a comparable cable excavator with a dragline bucket.

The construction site was prepared with a limed base course and a protective layer of recycled material . On this surface, the crawler crane demonstrates its strengths: thanks to the large-area load distribution, the machine remains stable and ready for use at all times – even in difficult weather conditions such as rain, snow, or frost.

While wheeled mobile cranes reach their limits more quickly under such operating conditions, the crawler track enables safe and consistent movement across the entire construction site. The high stability not only ensures reliable lifting operations but also supports soil compaction without damaging the ground.

“The coordination between our team and the precast assembly company worked very well,” said the project manager. “The use of the telescopic crawler cranes allowed us to design the assembly processes efficiently and make optimal use of available time reserves.”

The telescopic handler is used particularly in major incidents and disaster situations where large quantities of material need to be moved, incident sites set up, or logistical tasks handled. Typical deployment scenarios include, among others:

• Storm damage,
• Flood situations,
• Forest and vegetation fires as well as
• Extensive cleanup and safety measures following damage incidents.

Thanks to its high load capacity and telescopic boom design, the telescopic handler is able to move loads precisely even over greater heights and distances. This enables, for example, the 

• Loading sandbags,
• the transport of containers and pallets,
• the implementation of deployment materials or
• Support in setting up staging areas and operational infrastructure.

As one of the first port customers, Tosyali invested in six SENNEBOGEN 895 E material handlers in 2021. Together with SENNEBOGEN, a configuration was developed that later became a reference solution for numerous other ports in Turkey.
