Konecranes has successfully delivered one Konecranes SMV 4531 TC5 reach stacker to Shanxi Dingyan Coal in Linfen, Shanxi, China. The machine will be used to handle containers for railway.

 Linfen is located just outside Shanxi, the center of the Chinese coal industry and one of the three major coking coal bases in China. It ranks second in Shanxi province in terms of economy. The powerful coal industry requires strong support of transportation equipment and related services. Shanxi Dingyan Coal has committed to coal processing and sale for many years. The Konecranes SMV 4531 TC5 is their first reach stacker that can handle containers. This is also the first reach stacker for containers on the local market.

The delivery time of the machine was only one month. To meet the requirements of the customer, Konecranes Lingang factory’s different departments cooperated closely and efficiently, in order to give the customer the shortest delivery time possible.

“The engineers from Konecranes have provided very professional services and have controlled every process well from safety protection on site, to the installation. In addition, the sales personnel from KCL Lifttrucks Ltd, Konecranes authorized dealer in China, made very professional instructions on the equipment parts and their precautions for use. We are expecting that the Konecranes machine will greatly improve our handling efficiency”, says Mr Li, Shanxi Dingyan Coal.

Konecranes lift trucks are characterized by high stability and efficient operations. The electronic machine control monitoring and diagnostic system is equipped with a 7-inch color touch screen display, to serve as a high-quality Human Machine Interface for the driver. Furthermore, LED lights are fitted on the reach stacker to optimize the safety of the operations at night.

As a part of Work Zone, Konecranes introduces geofencing, a new safety and yard efficiency product which uses GPS technology to create virtual fences around real-world areas. These areas can then be used to trigger user defined alerts, this can be information about height limitations, speed limits or other safety matters. The alerts can be displayed on the driver’s display or by SMS or email to chosen recipients.

In addition to helping to increase safety, Work Zone can also be used to reduce and monitor downtime. This user-friendly tool offers the user the possibility to manage a fleet of lift trucks on a computer. This management and operations integration opens brand new possibilities to monitor and control a Konecranes fleet of lift trucks.

Konecranes Work Zone is available for all customers using Smart Connected Lift Trucks. Further features to enhance operational efficiency are under development for future releases.

Since Konecranes acquisition of Terex MHPS in early 2017, the Lift Trucks business unit has two product families; Konecranes SMV, a range of premium products that are smarter where it matters, and Konecranes Liftace, a range of value based, robust lift trucks that are highly appreciated for the ease of maintenance.
