LANDCROS One lands prestigious Red Dot Design Award
Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV (HCME) is proud to announce that its concept excavator, LANDCROS One, is the winner of a prestigious award. The innovative model, unveiled at Bauma in Munich in April, has been recognised by the 2025 Red Dot Design Awards.
LANDCROS One embodies the Hitachi vision for a smarter, safer, and more sustainable future in construction. Developed in collaboration with Granstudio, the concept excavator illustrates a strategic shift in the brand’s positioning – from a reliable solution provider to a leader in forward-thinking, technology-driven innovation.
Several innovative features are incorporated into the design. It offers three powertrain options – electric, diesel or hydrogen – to meet the need for flexible and sustainable operations. Three operating modes – manual, AI-assisted and autonomous – accommodate varying skill levels of operators and allow for fully remote operation. To enhance safety and reduce fatigue, it has integrated digital solutions such as AI-assisted controls, remote workstations and 360-degree sensor systems.
“LANDCROS One is more than just a machine,” said HCME President and CEO Francesco Quaranta. “It’s our commitment to deliver solutions beyond machinery in a new construction ecosystem.”
Following a hugely positive response at Bauma, HCME is delighted that LANDCROS One has now been recognised by this year’s Red Dot Design Awards. “We’re proud to lead the next wave of innovation, empowering the next-generation workforce and redefining possibilities in the construction machinery industry,” added Francesco.
