SENNEBOGEN 683 E accelerates hall assembly in the Czech Republic

The DY4 production hall for the engineering company SANBORN sro is currently under construction in the AVENTIN Dyje Industrial Park in the Czech Republic. The new building, measuring 96.8 x 72.8 meters and with a total area of approximately 7,047 m², has been under construction since November 2025. Completion, including acceptance and handover, is scheduled for August 2026. IMA Construction, sro, was commissioned with the project. A powerful SENNEBOGEN 683E crawler crane is being used to assemble the prefabricated concrete structure.

Assembly of precast concrete parts with a telescopic crane:

High payload capacity, range and flexibility in use

The core task on the construction site is the precise assembly of the prefabricated supporting structure made of precast concrete elements . The individual components are temporarily stored in a designated storage area and then transported directly to the assembly site. In addition to conventional lifting tasks, the telescopic crane also performs pick-and-carry operations , in which loads are picked up and moved while in motion .

Especially when assembling large-scale hall structures, the combination of load-bearing capacity, reach, and flexibility plays a crucial role. The telescopic boom enables large reaches and the precise positioning of heavy loads – even under challenging conditions. Unlike outrigger-mounted mobile cranes, frequent repositioning is unnecessary, as the crawler crane can move even under load. This significantly increases efficiency on the construction site.

The project manager explains:

“The use of telescopic crawler cranes offers a significant advantage during the assembly of the precast concrete structure. The work is considerably faster than with all-terrain cranes, as no constant repositioning is required and the flexibility for multiple assembly steps is advantageous.”

Crawler crane in use:

Safe load movement and reliable performance on difficult terrain

The construction site was prepared with a limed base course and a protective layer of recycled material . On this surface, the crawler crane demonstrates its strengths: thanks to the large-area load distribution, the machine remains stable and ready for use at all times – even in difficult weather conditions such as rain, snow, or frost.

While wheeled mobile cranes reach their limits more quickly under such operating conditions, the crawler track enables safe and consistent movement across the entire construction site. The high stability not only ensures reliable lifting operations but also supports soil compaction without damaging the ground.

Efficient project implementation thanks to well-established processes and high crane flexibility

Despite a one-week delay in the start of construction, the assembly of the hall’s supporting structure was completed a week ahead of the originally contractually agreed date. Crucial to this was the smooth cooperation between crane operators, the assembly team, and the project management.

“The coordination between our team and the precast assembly company worked very well,” said the project manager. “The use of the telescopic crawler cranes allowed us to design the assembly processes efficiently and make optimal use of available time reserves.”

First-time use of SENNEBOGEN telescopic crawler cranes in the project

This is the first time IMA Construction has used SENNEBOGEN cranes in this project. The machines impressed with their high performance, reliability, and flexibility in demanding lifting tasks.

The collaboration with the SENNEBOGEN dealer INTERMARKET was also consistently rated positively. An experienced team was available on-site throughout the entire commissioning phase to support the installation and ensure a smooth process.
