US operator opts for third Siwertell road-mobile ship unloader

Bruks Siwertell has delivered a third next-generation Siwertell road-mobile ship unloader to the same US cement handler. The 10 000 S unit joins two other 5 000 S Siwertell road-mobile unloaders that were delivered in 2020 and 2022. Like all previous units, the latest ship unloader offers flexible, efficient, environmentally friendly cement handling, and serves one of the operator’s southern Chicago port terminals.

“This third delivery is a great endorsement of our technology,” says Pedro Alfaro, Project Development Engineer, Bruks Siwertell. “The flexibility of these systems is something that the operator really appreciates, along with their enclosed conveying lines and environmental performance, a rapid delivery timescale, and our local support.”

The agility of Siwertell road-mobile unloaders mean that they can be deployed at multiple ports, operate with minimal infrastructure and move away from the jetty when not required. “They are ideally suited to meet the dynamic changing needs of the cement industry,” explains Alfaro. “We are also one on the few bulk material handling equipment manufacturers that can offer this type of mobile ship unloading unit. Our systems out-compete all other equivalent dry bulk handling technology on performance, including through-ship capacity and environmental protection, reliability and operational costs.

All Siwertell ship unloaders have totally enclosed conveying lines to eliminate spillage and minimize dust emissions. The road-mobile units are fitted with dust filters and have a double-bellows discharge arrangement with an automatic shifting function. This enables fast, efficient and dust-free vessel discharges direct to waiting trucks.

The 10 000 S next-generation Siwertell road-mobile unloader was delivered and commissioned for operation in September 2024. It features advanced digital systems, enabling remote support, and delivers a continuous rated cement and slag handling capacity of 300t/h, accommodating vessels up to 12,000 dwt.
