On August 5, E-Crane Bangladesh had the pleasure of welcoming His Excellency Mr. Didier Vanderhasselt, Ambassador of Belgium to Bangladesh and South Asia, and First Secretary Zoë Van Landschoot to our office in Dhaka. The delegation was in Bangladesh for a series of official government meetings. During this visit to the country, E-Crane had the pleasure of welcoming the Ambassador and First Secretary to our Bangladesh offices, offering them a closer look at our local activities and operations. The visit provided an opportunity to share more about E-Crane’s history and long-standing presence in Bangladesh, while exchanging views on doing business internationally and the role diplomacy can play in supporting Belgian companies abroad. Ambassador Vanderhasselt and First Secretary Van Landschoot showed a genuine interest in our activities and experiences in the region. Their visit highlighted the value of strong international relationships and open dialogue in supporting long-term business development. We thank Ambassador Vanderhasselt and First Secretary Van Landschoot for their visit and the valuable exchange.

The Acadia is the first U.S.-flagged, Jones Act–compliant subsea rock installation vessel, built for Great Lakes Dredge & Dock (GLDD) by Hanwha Philly Shipyard. Capable of carrying 20,000 metric tons of rock, it protects offshore wind foundations and subsea cables. While this was the initial loading of the vessel which took place at the Port of Coeymans, the operation was flawless and was the first use of the E-Crane with skip pan designed to load the 20,000 metric ton of rock material into the Acadia for its maiden voyage. The E-Crane, using the skip pan attachment designed by E-Crane, was easily capable of handling 22 metric tons / net load of material per cycle into Acadia’s dual holds.
In modern port operations, productivity and sustainability increasingly go hand in hand. A recent long-term performance analysis of our E-Crane operating in a CBH-application clearly demonstrates how both objectives can be achieved simultaneously.

About CBH operations

One does it all

This unique single-machine approach not only simplifies the operation but also creates significant economic advantages. Since no auxiliary equipment is required, customers benefit from substantially lower capital expenditure, while operational costs are minimized through a highly efficient setup requiring only one operator on the dock.

The results

Over a monitored period of six months, the installation handled an impressive 1.21 million tons of cargo. Despite the operational constraints typical for this type of logistics chain, the crane consistently achieved an average handling rate of 20 containers per hour, while reaching peak vessel loading performances of up to 15,000 tons per day.

What makes these results truly exceptional is the crane’s remarkably low energy consumption. During the six-month monitoring period, the E-Crane’s single electrical motor operated for 2,859 hours with an average power consumption of only 146 kWh per hour. This translates into an astonishingly low energy usage of just 0.34 kWh per ton loaded.

Conclusion

Thanks to the balanced design and energy-efficient operating principle of the E-Crane, the installation combines continuous high-performance material handling with minimal power demand, resulting in significantly lower operating costs and reduced environmental impact.

This project once again confirms that efficient bulk handling is no longer only about throughput capacity. With E-Crane, customers benefit from a solution that delivers operational excellence, low ownership costs and industry-leading energy efficiency.

Construction is progressing swiftly on E-Crane’s new service center and warehouse located in Meghna Economic Zone (MEZ), Bangladesh. Since breaking ground in May 2025, the project has moved forward at a rapid pace to address the growing regional demand for E-Crane equipment and specialized components. With only a few final tasks remaining, the facility is expected to be fully operational soon. This milestone is highly anticipated by local operators who currently rely on time-consuming imports from Belgium. By maintaining a robust local inventory, E-Crane Bangladesh will be able to provide immediate spare parts support and rapid service, significantly reducing downtime and enhancing operational efficiency for its customers across the country.

A brand new 700B Series barge mounted E-Crane has come to life at our Port of Iberia facility, showcasing the full capabilities of our Gulf Coast operations. This machine, for Simplot Grower Solutions, was erected completely on-site and then transported to the end user site fully assembled.

Major components arrived by vessel from Europe and were received, staged, and assembled entirely on-site by our team of specialized technicians. With the necessary infrastructure, specialized tools, and experienced personnel in place, our Port of Iberia facility enables us to take a crane from individual components to a fully realized machine, ready for operation. In fact, multiple machines can be staged and assembled at one time, as Simplot was assembled along with another 4000C Series E-Crane.

Once assembly was complete, the crane underwent thorough testing at our facility. Every system was carefully checked to ensure performance, reliability, and readiness for continuous service. This ability to fully build and test equipment before delivery not only streamlines installation at the customer’s site, but also reduces startup time and risk once the crane is put into operation.

From Port of Iberia, the fully assembled crane—mounted on its barge—began the next phase of its journey, traveling by water to the Port of Rosedale. This seamless transition from assembly yard to job site highlights a key advantage of the Iberia location: direct water access that allows us to efficiently deliver large, fully assembled equipment to ports across the region.

For Simplot Company, the E-Crane will serve as the dedicated unloader for inbound fertilizer barges, supporting a consistent and efficient material flow from vessel to shore. With its balanced design, energy efficiency, and proven reliability, it is built to deliver long-term operational value—both for Simplot and for the demanding environment of daily port operations.
