A brand new 700B Series barge mounted E-Crane has come to life at our Port of Iberia facility, showcasing the full capabilities of our Gulf Coast operations.  This machine, for Simplot Grower Solutions, was erected completely on-site and then transported to the end user site fully assembled.

Major components arrived by vessel from Europe and were received, staged, and assembled entirely on-site by our team of specialized technicians.  With the necessary infrastructure, specialized tools, and experienced personnel in place, our Port of Iberia facility enables us to take a crane from individual components to a fully realized machine, ready for operation.  In fact, multiple machines can be staged and assembled at one time, as Simplot was assembled along with another 4000C Series E-Crane.

Once assembly was complete, the crane underwent thorough testing at our facility. Every system was carefully checked to ensure performance, reliability, and readiness for continuous service. This ability to fully build and test equipment before delivery not only streamlines installation at the customer’s site, but also reduces startup time and risk once the crane is put into operation.

From Port of Iberia, the fully assembled crane—mounted on its barge—began the next phase of its journey, traveling by water to the Port of Rosedale. This seamless transition from assembly yard to job site highlights a key advantage of the Iberia location: direct water access that allows us to efficiently deliver large, fully assembled equipment to ports across the region.

For Simplot Company, the E-Crane will serve as the dedicated unloader for inbound fertilizer barges, supporting a consistent and efficient material flow from vessel to shore.  With its balanced design, energy efficiency, and proven reliability, it is built to deliver long-term operational value—both for Simplot and for the demanding environment of daily port operations.

Since beginning operations in March 2002, the Shah Cement plant—strategically located at Muktarpur, Munshigonj, in the land intersection of Shitolokkha and Dhaleshwari rivers—has been a symbol of innovation and industrial progress.

Strengthening Operations with E-Crane Technology

In 2011, Shah Cement took a significant step forward by upgrading its gantry crane to a modern E-Crane system, starting with the installation of the 1000B Series E-Crane (Model EC7264B PD-E). The positive impact of this upgrade was immediate, encouraging the company to add a second 1000B Series unit (Model EC7290 PD-E) in 2014 to further enhance productivity.

From 2017 to 2023, Shah Cement continued expanding its capabilities with six additional 1000C Series E-Cranes (EH7290 PD-E) and one 700B Series E-Crane (EH4290 PD-E). Known for their long reach and high lifting capacity. E-Cranes are ideal for high capacity bulk handling. Today, eight out of nine E-Cranes are fully operational, with one scheduled for final erection soon.

In 2023, Shah Cement initiated plans for a major overhaul of E-Crane 1, despite its continuous operation as a key unloading point. After surpassing 80,000 operating hours, the company secured a maintenance window in September 2025. Under the supervision of the E-Crane Bangladesh team, E-Crane 1 was safely dismantled, upgraded with new major components—including the swing bearing, pins, and copper bushes—and re-erected with precision.

Today, E-Crane 1 is running stronger than ever—renewed, reliable, and ready to perform at peak capacity for years to come.

To ensure a smooth ramp-up of operations in Santos, the Brazilian Aftersales team recently completed a 10-day intensive training program in Indonesia. The program focused on four key areas: warehouse setup, parts inventory strategy, service execution, and documentation/reporting.

Smart Parts Inventory Strategy

The team also studied best practices in inventory management. Critical and frequently used parts are prioritized for local stocking, while less common items can be quickly sourced through regional hubs. This strategy, already proven in Balikpapan, enables shorter lead times and optimized costs — a model that will now be applied in Santos.

Service Excellence: FMC vs. Regular

Another important focus was service execution, covering both Field Maintenance Contracts (FMC) and regular service jobs. Practical frameworks from Balikpapan were shared, showing how consistent planning and teamwork improve reliability and turnaround times. The Brazilian team is now prepared to replicate this methodology locally to better serve customers.

Documentation and Reporting – A Cornerstone of Aftersales

Finally, the training reinforced the importance of clear, structured, and frequent documentation and reporting. Accurate reports not only track service history and parts usage but also build trust with customers through transparency. In Balikpapan, this practice has become a cornerstone of customer satisfaction, and the Santos team will adopt the same standards from the very start.

Belgium, September 2025

In September, two E-Crane 4000C Series on EC28421 PD-E model units successfully completed Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) at the E-Crane Belgium factory workshop.

The testing was expertly conducted by two E-Crane engineers from Balikpapan, Indonesia, together with our E-Crane engineering colleagues, ensuring top performance before shipment. The entire FAT process was witnessed by Mr. James Wu from Kraanwerks Singapore, who praised the high-standard testing carried out at E-Crane, fully meeting expectations.

These cranes will be bound for KTU Shipyard in Batam, Indonesia, marking E-Crane’s first project with this new customer—a proud milestone in our global collaboration!
