66 years of cooperation: SENNEBOGEN and Rothe Erde

The Lower Bavarian manufacturer of material handling machines and crane technology SENNEBOGEN and the North Rhine-Westphalian manufacturer of slewing bearings Rothe Erde will celebrate the 66th anniversary of their successful cooperation in 2025. Rothe Erde has been supplying slewing bearings for SENNEBOGEN machines since 1959.

As a traditional, family-run company, SENNEBOGEN Maschinenfabrik can look back on a 73-year history of success. With a wide range of solutions for the construction industry and material handling, the Lower Bavarian company, which now has over 2,200 employees, plays a leading role in various sectors. With carrier devices, material handling excavators, telehandlers, cranes and rope excavators with an operating weight of up to 420 t, SENNEBOGEN offers its customers the greatest variety of industry- and customer-specific solutions.

As one of the world’s leading producers of large diameter bearings , thyssenkrupp rothe erde specializes in the development and production of rolling bearings and seamless rolled rings. The Dortmund-based company’s more than 6,000 employees work closely together to develop customized solutions for mechanical engineering that are unique in terms of design, material properties and performance.

It all began in 1959 with a double-row ball bearing that was sent from the Ruhr region to Lower Bavaria. “Today we supply everything from single-row ball bearings for material handling machines with small boom lengths to three-row roller bearings for harbor cranes with a load capacity of up to 90 tons for almost the entire SENNEBOGEN portfolio,” explains Alexander Jerrhof, Sales Industry Account Manager at Rothe Erde.

To mark the anniversary, Peter Küpper and Alexander Jerrhof from Rothe Erde presented the company’s own Erich Sennbogen Museum with a double-row ball bearing as an exhibit, which is identical to the first model delivered in 1959.
