Ports of Indiana: SPOTLIGHT: PRECISION STRIP

Precision Strip is located on the Jeffersonville campus.

Precision Strip was founded in 1977 in Ohio. Since its beginning in the niche market of aluminum slitting, Precision Strip has grown to 15 locations throughout Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Alabama, Tennessee and Michigan. As the nation’s largest toll processor, Precision Strip strives to do the exceptional every day.

Within its 3.8 million square feet of building space, it houses: 35 slitting lines, ten cut-to-length lines, five oscillate slit lines, one mechanical blanking line, one laser blanking line, one edge conditioning line, and one perforating line. Precision Strip also provides leveling, stenciling, lube application and full inspection of material for surface quality, including critical inspection of Class A automotive. The metal types processed include carbon, stainless steel, aluminum and copper.

Each plant is strategically located to provide JIT warehousing and delivery service to the automotive, appliance, industrial products and beverage can industry. Its unique packaging and material handling techniques improve coil handling efficiency and reduce coil damage. The Jeffersonville facility is equipped to ship and receive material by truck and rail.
