This environmental aspect is reflected in numerous working methods and investments made in that area such as;
- Fully automated sprinkler system
- Parcels stored outdoors are treated with a cellulose solvent in order to avoid dust emissions
- Wide variety of dust suppression equipment both in the discharging and stacking as well as re-loading routes.
- Temperature monitoring on all parcels stored in order to avoid heating up / spontaneous combustion causing possible nuisance (smell) to the neighbouring areas.

LIGHTERING IJMUIDEN
From the North Sea, OBA Bulk Terminal Amsterdam is accessible for cape size vessels with a maximum draft of 17,80 meters (density 1,026) and a maximum beam of 45 meters. Vessels with these dimensions are being lightered in Ijmuiden at the IJ-palen dolphins. We use our 50 tons floating crane “Nijlpaard” to discharge the vessel either directly board/board or into storage barges which will bring the coal to the terminal facility. For the vessels that have to be lightered, a 1 port 2 berths principle is being followed, meaning that the total port costs are equivalent to other ports with one berth.
Vessels with a maximum draft of 13,75 meters can enter the port without lightering.
