Description
Marcor Stevedoring BV was founded in 1997 and thus is a reasonable young company, but professional, eager and flexible. Marcor Stevedoring B.V. is a 100% subsidiary of C. Steinweg Handelsveem B.V. a worldwide forwarding organization, also operating various port terminals, for all type of cargoes.
Marcor is handling, in the Port of Rotterdam, some 5,5 to 6,5 million ton of dry bulk commodities. Of said annual volume 55% is agri bulk, mainly from South America, and the balance quantity consists of mineral commodities, such as magnesite and bauxite from China, ferro alloys from South Africa, biomass and coals from various origins; also steel scrap is handled from time to time, so is sugar; in other words any dry bulk commodity.
The way Marcor is doing their business is rather unique as Marcor does not have a shore facility at its disposal. Despite, Marcor is supplying their customers at a high service level, which includes storage facilities, by making use of their own storage vessel, Marcor Bulk1 and rented barges, both with a quality level above market standards.
The majority of vessels are handled mid stream, in particular, the Waalhaven or Botlek basin.
It is also possible to handle vessels at the Caland Canal and Europoort, in other words throughout the port.
For the handling of the vessels and the cargoes Marcor has four floating cranes. In addition, two floating weighing towers are available for handling agri bulk commodities only. These units are all of recent date and well maintained to avoid unexpected interruptions, and thus extra costs. The pontoons of the six floating units are of such a size that they can withstand even extreme weather circumstances and as such safeguard a smooth handling of both cargo and vessel. The equipment is able to handle cargo from any type of vessel up to Cape Size!
The fleet of four floating cranes, consists of two, more or less identical, 36ts lifting capacity Figee cranes. These cranes reach a production, without exception, of 800ts to 1200ts per hour in unloading Panamax vessel.
The other two cranes have a lifting capacity of 25ts NDC built and a 16ts Figee built.
A Panamax vessel with 60.000ts agri bulk without artificial separations is being discharged in 48 to 60 hours.
Of course, Marcor lives up to the various prevailing regulations, such as ISPS, BLU code, AEO and holds the GMP+, Cert ID and ISO certificates. So also from that angle all is under control.
