ESI Eurosilo – Safest storage on the smallest possible footprint

With over 40 years of experience, ESI Eurosilo provides highly automated and fully enclosed storage solutions for the energy industry as well as other major industries. From basic and detail engineering, to procurement, contracting and construction management up to testing and commissioning. Next to designing and building storage silos, ESI Eurosilo offers service and maintenance, periodic inspections and tailor made retrofits to prevent failure and ensure compliance with regulations and policies.

Future proof storage concept

The all-in-one Eurosilo concept is based on storage in large silos, up to 100.000 m3, equipped with innovative feeding and reclaiming mechanisms as well as safety and dehumidification installations. Our highly dependable reclaim mechanisms are designed to enable reclamation of sticky bulk solids such as FGD gypsum or fluidizing materials such as fly ash or powdered limestone. The maximum control and the enclosed storage meet the requirements of environmental regulations, while the small footprint answers up to the space limitations of today’s power plants. Compared to open stockpiles or shed storage, a Eurosilo reduces the required ground space to a third for the same storage capacity. With an installed base of 126 storage silos in different industries, we are currently progressing with new units for pet coke, FGD Gypsum and more.

Innovative material handling

Innovative material handling systems are essential for logistic control. The coal is fed from the top of the silo and descents trough a telescopic chute. Inside the silo the coal is distributed evenly on the surface of the stored mass by two screw conveyors on a rotating auger frame. Reclaiming is done at the bottom of the silo, while the screw conveyors rotate in reverse to feed coal into the formed core flow. For FGD Gypsum the proprietary central slotted column provides an open exit channel for this cohesive material that is pushed into the slots by two screw conveyors. For fly ash and powdered limestone we developed the shutter column system with programmable opening and closing of the shutters to handle filling and reclaiming of these materials that tend to fluidize when put into motion.

Customized configuration

Eurosilos are specifically built to match customer requirements. A range of options is available to customize the silo to your needs.

  • The silo can be built with a steel structure, a wooden inner wall and standard outer wall cladding, as a slip-formed concrete silo or as a steel tank. Tracing and/or insulation of the outer wall are also available
  • Additional dewatering can be achieved through the silo drainage system and an optional vacuum unit
  • The mechanical systems can be equipped with remote control operation, based on data bus systems
  • Extended silo structures for mounting equipment, for example, a dewatering station at the top of an FGD gypsum silo
  • Truck and train loading facilities, including a weighing system, can be constructed directly underneath the silo

These options are a selection of many possibilities. Each silo can be customized to your needs and requirements.
