CRONIMET Alfa is testing the new SENNEBOGEN battery-powered machine

At CRONIMET Alfa GmbH in the Munich district of Aubing, a company specializing in the recycling of stainless steel, ferroalloys, and superalloys, the SENNEBOGEN 824 G Electro Battery was deployed for an extensive test operation. Operator Zoran Alexsic had the opportunity to test the all-electric machine in the workshop, feeding a baling press and sorting materials. The focus was on the performance and practical suitability of the electric excavator model under real-world conditions.

“You don’t have to take breaks to escape the noise.”

What Zoran immediately noticed was how quietly the excavator runs. This was a real relief, especially in the hall, where noise is a significant nuisance. “It’s pleasantly quiet. You don’t have to take breaks to escape the noise,” he says. And tight spaces were also taken into account – thanks to the integrated work area limitation, the boom doesn’t touch the hall roof . This provides more space for working and a good feeling when driving.

“Working quietly is a real relief.”

Running time between 1.5 and 3.5 hours – even with only one battery

The tested SENNEBOGEN 824 G Electro Battery was equipped with a single lithium-ion battery pack – and demonstrated impressive endurance. Depending on driving style and engine speed, the runtime was between 1.5 and 3.5 hours. “That’s really powerful for just one battery,” says Zoran. The machine can also be equipped with two, three, or four batteries if necessary , further increasing operating time and offering maximum flexibility for different applications.

The 90 kW electric motor delivers full power to the job site. “The battery-powered machine drives just like a diesel-powered one ,” says Zoran. “You don’t notice any difference in power —just that everything runs much more smoothly and quietly.”

“Charging while in use is really convenient.”

A key highlight is the Dual Power Mode: The machine can not only operate on battery power, but also be powered by the mains power supply. During operation, the machine can be connected to a 63 A CEE plug and the battery recharged, noticeably improving workflow. Zoran: “Charging during operation is really convenient. You can just carry on working without wasting time.” Operation is incredibly simple: plug in the plug – and you’re off right away. Depending on the equipment, up to three onboard chargers, each with a charging capacity of 22 kW, are possible, corresponding to a total of 66 kW per hour. This enables short charging times and virtually uninterrupted operation.

Intuitive operation: precise adjustment of speed and joystick settings

The battery-powered excavator also offers sophisticated and operator-friendly comfort. The SENNEBOGEN 824 G Electro Battery is equipped with a modern SENCON control system , which allows precise adjustment of the air conditioning, speed, and joystick settings. “The control system is very user-friendly and makes working pleasant,” says Zoran. Furthermore, the comfortable seat combined with a low-vibration cabin ensures a pleasant working day, even during longer assignments.

Operating costs noticeably reduced

Electric technology not only reduces emissions and noise , but also significantly lowers operating costs. The low consumption of the electric motor and efficient peak shaving contribute to significant cost savings .

“Refueling is completely eliminated. That’s a real advantage, especially in a hall,” says Zoran. The battery-powered excavator’s low maintenance requirements and simple charging infrastructure also contribute to its cost-effectiveness.

The SENNEBOGEN 824 G Electro Battery has proven itself to be powerful and efficient in use at CRONIMET Alfa GmbH. The combination of powerful performance, long battery life, ease of use, and low noise makes it a viable solution for recycling companies committed to sustainability.
