Moving Material. Reducing Impact.

Environmental responsibility and efficient material handling can go hand in hand. For decades, DSI’s Sandwich Belt high angle conveyor technology has helped customers reduce their operational footprint by minimizing land disturbance, reducing truck haulage, lowering dust emissions, and optimizing energy usage. From renewable energy applications and waste-to-energy facilities to regenerative conveyor systems that feed power back to the grid, these installations demonstrate how innovative conveying solutions can advance both productivity and sustainability. The following projects highlight just a few examples of Sandwich Belt conveyors and overland conveyors working in harmony with the environment.

Sandwich Belt High Angle Conveyors in Harmony with the Environment

Originally contracted as a DSI GPS (Gently Pressed Sandwich) high angle conveyor installation, the Los Filos gold mine in central Mexico ultimately required a conventional overland conveyor solution when the mountainside geology proved unstable for the planned route. Continuing its commitment to innovative and cost-effective material handling solutions, DSI optimized the original 10-flight conveyor system into a 7-flight design utilizing horizontal curves. Because the conveyor route operates downhill, the system functions as a regenerative conveyor, feeding power back into the mine’s electrical grid and helping power other site equipment.
