Mount Vernon Railroad grand opening ceremonies with top state officials; elementary students to see port locomotives they named: ‘Power Paws’ and ‘Wildcat Express’

Ports of Indiana and OmniTRAX will host a grand opening celebration and ribbon-cutting for the Mount Vernon Railroad at 11:30 a.m. (CT) Tuesday, April 22, at Ports of Indiana-Mount Vernon.

Officials scheduled to attend include: Indiana Secretary of Commerce David Adams, Evansville Regional Economic Partnership CEO Lloyd Winnecke, Indiana Economic Development Corp. Executive Director Jeff Blade, Mount Vernon Mayor Steve Loehr, OmniTRAX Chief Commercial Officer Ryan Higgins, Ports of Indiana CEO Jody Peacock, and other state and local officials. **This is not a public event**

Before the grand opening:  Mount Vernon elementary students will visit the port’s locomotives “Power Paws” and “Wildcat Express” for the first time and learn about rail safety. Media are invited to join for photos at the locomotives (10-10:40 a.m. CT).

WHERE: Ports of Indiana-Mount Vernon, 2751 Bluff Road, Mount Vernon, IN 47620. Event is outdoors south of port office. You will be directed to parking near the office.
