Bruks Siwertell Group company, Bruks Siwertell AB, based in Bjuv, Sweden, has completed the installation of a solar panel system on the facility’s roof. The 758 panels are estimated to generate approximately 400,000 kWh annually, offsetting more than a third of the site’s total energy consumption.

Sustainability goal: environmental

Two of Bruks Siwertell Group’s environmental sustainability targets are to reduce carbon emissions by 50 percent and to transition fully to renewable energy sources by 2030. The installation of solar panels at Bruks Siwertell Group company, Bruks Siwertell AB, in Bjuv, Sweden, aligns with both of these goals.

By embracing renewable energy solutions, Bruks Siwertell is not only fulfilling its sustainability commitments, but also reinforcing its aim to drive positive industry change throughout the supply chain.

Solution and results

To make a significant reduction in carbon emissions and to work towards the 100 percent switch to renewable energy, Bruks Siwertell AB took the decision to undertake a substantial solar panel installation project.

The initiative took place between June and December 2024, and involved fitting a state-of-the-art solar panel system on the facility’s roof. Prior to the installation, the roof required a specialist assessment and work to ensure that the structure could accommodate it.

“Selecting the right contractor was really important because of the complex requirements of the project,” notes Peter Gustavsson, Logistics Manager, Bruks Siwertell. “After vetting multiple partners, we identified a contractor capable of delivering the desired results.”

The project resulted in the installation of 758 panels, each with a capacity of 590W, along with three Sungrow SG125CX-P2 inverters, each providing 125kW AC. The panels are estimated to generate approximately 400,000 kWh annually, which is equivalent to around a third of the site’s total energy consumption.

“Our solar panel project demanded cross-departmental collaboration and good communication,” adds Gustavsson. “It also demonstrates how we can integrate advanced renewable energy technologies into our operations to achieve tangible environmental benefits.”

The project is projected to contribute significantly to reducing the facility’s reliance on non-renewable energy sources, marking a major step toward Bruks Siwertell Group’s sustainability targets.

Monitoring and assessing sustainability milestones and achievements

Bruks Siwertell Group’s sustainability goals are assessed from an environmental, social, and governance (ESG) perspective, with each initiative falling into one or more of these categories. This is to clarify how different initiatives impact our overall sustainability work, and how their results can be used to maximum effect. It also contributes to our commitment to transparency. All aspects of our sustainability work are designed to be educational, so that we increase our knowledge and adjust our ambitions accordingly.
