SMT Benin | Partnership with Terres Rouges association

SMT Benin in partnership with Terres Rouges association welcomes a young intern to train him in mechanics.

Terres Rouges has been active in West Africa since 2009. It helps, heals, reintegrates and empowers children and young people at risk in the street by meeting their basic needs, favoring psychosocial support.

One of the association’s projects in Benin is professional training and support for young people. A team follows 30 young people per year throughout their professional apprenticeship journey to autonomy, in partnership with a network of training companies and tutors ready to take on these young people in apprenticeship.

Training is key. The young people supervised by Terres Rouges grew up in difficult conditions; we are delighted to give them the opportunity to work for a large company.
— François Van Bladel, Managing Director – SMT Benin
This project is perfectly in line with SMT values “caring, daring, sharing” and put them alive in a concrete way. It is within this framework of professional training that SMT Benin decided to support the actions of this Belgian association, by welcoming interns to its premises in Cotonou. Since  May, Judicaël has joined the team at the workshop for a three month period. The young intern has the opportunity to train in the field of mechanics on construction machines and equipment.
On a daily basis, we realise that there are competent and motivated youths in Benin for whom it is difficult to get a first job, which is essential for gaining experience. It is an honor for us to welcome Judicaël to SMT Benin. We look forward to train more interns soon and encourage more companies to do the same!
— François Van Bladel, Managing Director – SMT Benin
